It was another good grand prix for the championship leaders at Palembang with both Tim Gajser and Jorge Prado once again taking to the top step of the overall podiums. However, neither had it quite their own way this week as the second motos went to Romain Febvre and Thomas Kjaer Olsen. It will be a good confidence boost to both of these riders to cross the line first, Febvre has not taken a win in the world championships for quite some time and Olsen will be happy to beat Prado when he is on the line. Max Anstie looked rapid all weekend and a first lap crash in moto two may have cost him a potential overall when taking into account Gajser’s later off.
High humidity played a part in the action with riders looking visibly tired. A high number of lappers in the MXGP class has also drawn criticisms from fans due to the quality of some of the wildcards.
